PhotobucketIt can be tricky sourcing an internship in Eastern Europe with the increase of unemployment to more than ten percent in Central and South-Eastern Europe (non-EU), but there are certainly opportunities available. Interestingly, virtual internships are making an appearance, enabling you to work from home.

ACTR Business Russian Language and Internship Program
This program combines a curriculum focusing on the language of Russian business communication with a 20-hour per week internship in a U.S. or Russian business, NGO, or government agency. The program emphasizes speaking and reading skills for business communications, commercial document preparation, and reading the Russian business press. Contact: American Councils

Alfa Fellowship Program
The Alfa Fellowship Program is a high-level professional development exchange program placing qualified American citizens in work assignments at leading Russian organizations in the fields of business, economics, journalism, law, public policy, and government. Key goals of the program are expanding networks of American and Russian professionals, developing greater intercultural understanding, and advancing U.S./Russian relations. The program includes language training, seminar programs, and extended professional experience. Fellows receive travel, free housing, monthly stipends, and insurance. Russian language skills are preferred but not required. Deadline: December 1.

Language Link Teacher Internship Program (EFL)
Ten paid internships offered each year to non-TEFL certified applicants lasting 9 academic months within its English foreign language teaching programme. Normally, applicants are recent university graduates looking for both an international experience and the opportunity to develop skills as a Teacher of English to speakers of other languages.

Petro-Teach Program
